Stella McCartney’s Denim Skirt for Less

Runway Redux March 11, 2010 @ 10:55 pm

When most people envision a denim skirt they think short, faded, frayed and beachy, something you’d find hanging off the rack at Abercrombie & Fitch.  When Stella McCartney envisions a denim skirt she thinks vintage, classy, conservative yet sexy, something you’d find hanging lovingly in the back of your mother’s closet waiting for you to snatch it up and give it a second life.  Since we can guarantee our mother has already donated her button-front denim skirt from the early 1980s and since we’re looking to spend less than what Stella charges for a denim skirt, we’re turning to this version by 7 for All Mankind for only $87. The light wash gives it a vintage feel while the button-front details remind us so much of Stella’s.

Top 10 Graphic Print Skirts for Spring 2010

10 Commandments March 11, 2010 @ 4:46 pm

As soon as the mercury surpasses 20 degrees Celsius on our exterior thermometer, all we can think about is ditching our black tights/knee high boot combination and showing off our bare (although blindingly white) legs.  But since we still have a few degrees to go until we reach 20, we’re preplanning how to disguise the paleness of our legs when the day finally arrives.  Our answer: graphic print skirts in vibrant shades inspired by Balenciaga’s Spring 2010 collection.  We figure in a skirt this wild, no one will even be looking at our legs.  But just in case, we’ll be sure to stock up on self-tanner.  Click through to find out our top 10 picks for graphic print skirts for the spring…

Daily Deal: Transparent Bangles Under $10

Daily Deal March 10, 2010 @ 4:25 pm

We’ve been obsessed with transparent accessories ever since Karl Lagerfeld sent see-through hard plastic cases as purses down Chanel’s runway last fall.   Our obsession reached new heights when Prada also showcased transparent plexiglass and plastic sandals and handbags for Spring 2010.  But since we’re not too keen on the idea of showing off the contents of our purse to just any old stranger, we’re turning to these bangles from H&M ($9.95) as a way to bring a little bit of the transparent accessory trend into our wardrobe.

Tribal Trend for Less Inspired by Malandrino, DVF & Dries

Weekly Hot Pick March 10, 2010 @ 9:34 am

Last week we raved about the latest tribal necklaces to hit the stores this spring.  But what’s a girl to wear with all those statement necklaces? We turned to the Spring 2010 runways of Catherine Malandrino, Diane Von Furstenberg and Dries Van Noten where tribal prints and wild accessories were all the rage.   The most important thing we learned after scrolling through hundreds of runway shots of models decked head to toe in vibrant patterns and Ikat prints:  don’t be afraid to play with your prints!  This spring there’s no such thing as mismatched. Check out our top picks inspired by the runway…
