June 4 , 2009: THOU SHALT MAKE FASHION FUN AGAIN
In the immortal words of one Cher Horowitz, "sometimes I have more fun vegging out than when I go partying. Maybe because my party clothes are so binding" (and for those of you haven't seen it one zillion times, get thee to a Blockbuster and rent Clueless stat). Although we don't have many things in common with Cher (our fathers weren't litigators who lived in Beverly Hills and we didn't have our own credit card until at least university), we do agree that sometimes fashion can be binding. Between wet look leggings, corset tops and high waisted skirts, a girl can barely breathe let alone
enjoy a night of dancing. Add a pair of 5 inch platforms and we're lucky if we make it five feet out the door. That's why this summer we're giving our party clothes a break and trying on some ultra-bright, ultra-fun fashions that remind us of our youth; when wearing hot pink jelly shoes and plastic fluorescent yellow bags was not only socially acceptable, it was expected.
