During Fashion Week, it’s sometimes quite easy to forget what the week is actually all about. Between clamouring for a seat, spotting Canadian celebs (Howie Mandel, Stacey McKenzie, the Weston clan to name a few), and scrutinizing the fashion choices of both designers and attendees, we sometimes forget that the week is about more than just clothes; it’s also about women. Last night, Canada’s Plus Size Model Search brought us back to reality and reminded us that fashion would be nothing without the women who wear it. And we’re not talking “women” as in the 5’11” teen girls that walk the runway, but the real women of Canada (we’re not all a size 2 and we live off of more than just celery and cigarettes).
LOULOU Magazine and Reitman’s Fashion Group (Addition Elle, Penningtons, MXM) ended their cross-country search for Canada’s Plus Size Model last night during LG Fashion Week and selected Brittney Fisher, a photogenic and gorgeous size 16, as the winner. Brittney, 23, wins a one year modeling contract with Specs Model Management, a $2,500 wardrobe from Reitmans Fashion Group and a feature in ‘LOULOU for YOU’, the magazine’s plus size fashion supplement.
So ladies keep your eyes to the sky and see if you can spot Brittney in any upcoming Addition Elle, Penningtons or MXM advertisements. This girl is all woman and she isn’t afraid to show it!
