I am a semi-plus girl and I have a very tight budget. I am 17 years old, 13 days away from 18, and i want the lastest fashion but i can't find anything in my buget range! I want to be in style but I can't find anything in my size or my budget. Can you help?

-Whitney (November 19, 2008)

Dear Whitney,

Happy 18th birthday, Whitney! After doing some research for your question, we totally see your dilemma; it’s very hard to find fashionable plus-sized clothes at a reasonable price. But luckily for you and other plus size women, there are some resources on the web dedicated to solving your problem. We found two helpful sites plussizeweb.com and plusfashion.ca that provide direct links to online plus-size retailers in the U.S. and Canada. Retailers that we thought you might like include: MXM, Lane Bryant, Torrid and Missphit. These stores cater exclusively to plus-sized teens and women who want to be in style but still on a budget.

I have a long evening gown that seems to be described as a bridesmaids dress but it is december and I need to wear a coat or jacket or shall????? HELP! What is best to wear that is fitting for the gala event??

-Sashaevette (November 19, 2008)
Dear Sashaevette,

Pashminas and shawls are always a safe choice to pair with a long evening gown when the weather dips below freezing no matter the style of the dress. But to give your gala look that ‘wow’ factor, we have come up with some more luxurious options for your consideration. We love the old Hollywood glamour of a fur shawl or cape (faux of course – unless it’s our grandmother's vintage mink stole); it makes us feel like Grace Kelly. Capes come in a variety of fabrics and styles including fur, wool, cashmere and silk, which can also give an air of sophistication when worn with a long evening gown. A bolero is also a great option for a long dress as it only covers the shoulders and arms, leaving the details of the dress exposed. We promise none of these options will give you the dreaded ‘bridesmaid’ look.

Are black leather pants back in again for this winter?

-Kathy (November 18, 2008)

Dear Kathy,

Like any good fashionista, you are a season ahead of the mainstream. Leather pants and leather leggings made a brief showing this fall but seem to be back in a big way for spring 2009. Designers such as Chanel, Givenchy, Proenza Schouler and Alexander McQueen all showed black leather pants on their Spring/ Summer 2009 runways. As for wearing leather pants this winter many retailers carry them at a vast range of prices. If you are looking for a more affordable option, try pleather leggings like we saw at Topshop's Fall 2008 show. Stay tuned to Stylehog.com this spring for more info and ideas on how to wear leather pants for spring.
