Dear Sharde,
Thank you so much for your question. We are so happy that you are interested in fashion design. We aren't from Michigan and we aren't sure which city you live in but we will do our best to get you on a sewing machine asap! Here are a few links to some sewing classes in Michigan:
Pontiac, MI (near the Palace of Auburn Hills): http://kathietravnikar.com/index.php?page=classes&title=Sewing%20Classes
Royal Oak, MI: http://www.habermanfabrics.com/classes/idx1.htm
Ann Arbor, MI: http://www.allsewnupbyanne.com/sewinglessons.htm
Jo-Ann fabric and Craft Stores (Various locations): http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=Michigan
If all else fails your local community centre, learning annex, college or university should offer sewing courses at all levels.

Hi! I have a wedding to go to in late October and over the summer I bought a bright yellow, satin, Calvin Klein dress that I just love. I have never had a dress fit me so well! I was wondering if it would be appropriate to wear bright yellow in late October, or is it more of a summer color? Also, what color shoes and accessories would you recommend? Thank you!

Dear Jamie,
It is absolutely appropriate to wear yellow to a wedding. Actually, if we were attending such a wedding we would commend you for your bold colour choice! For the most part we believe that rules were made to be broken but in this case there is no rule that says yellow is a no-no for weddings (in any season). If you want to make sure your outfit is season-appropriate, turn to your accessories as a way to "fall-ify" your outfit. Look for necklaces or bracelets in rich shades and jewel tones. As for shoes, look for neutrals or greys in some of fall's hottest trends.
If you are feeling a little daring: Try a pair of light lavender coloured heels like these Brian Atwood peep-toe pumps. Pair these heels with delicate, pretty gold jewelry (we suggest a necklace). Or try a pair of light grey suede pumps like these Carvela Gerry pumps.

I need help. I saw this leopard print jacket on the Rachel Zoe Project Season 2 Episode 2 on Taylor and can't find out who makes it and where I can buy it or something similar. Please help!!

Dear Jessica,,
Animal prints are always a fun way to make a statement. While we can't track down the exact jacket that Taylor is wearing we can find some that are pretty close. For fashionistas on a budget try these:
- Knee-length Leopard-print trench $79 at Spiegel
- MICHAEL Michael Kors Leopard-print coat $61 at Michael Kors
Or for the label-loving bargain-hunter try:
-
Moschino Leopard-print trench $1919 at The Outnet

I had an enquiry about this tullip skirt from Topshop. I was wondering if it is available in any store in Canada, specifically in Ottawa. I've seen similar ones but I love the colour of this one.

Dear Rania,
Unfortunately, Topshop has yet to open a location anywhere in Canada.
The closest you will come to finding a Topshop store is the newly opened store in New York (Broadway and Broome). Unfortunately they do not ship to Canada either (only to addresses in the US and Europe). Holt Renfrew used to carry a limited selection of items from the Topshop Kate Moss collection but otherwise there are no stores in Canada that carry any of Topshop's lines (although we keep hearing rumours that The Bay may be interested - fingers crossed!).
We did find a similar tullip skirt at American Apparel in three shades of red for only $28 and one at Chick Downtown in a red/tangerine shade for only $48.
