If your current bank balance means spa-going is not in the budget or if you simply want to preserve the effects of a glowing complexion, post-spa experience, opt for the newest anti-aging products that are sure to get you more than a few headturning glances. Estée Lauder’s newly formulated Advanced Night Repair ($47.50) banks on ‘Chronolux Technology’ to help skin cells properly repair skin damage overnight. New research has found that similar to a master timer, clock genes, found in each and every one of our skin cells, synchronizes our body’s own repair mechanisms. Stressors like aging, environmental assaults, lack of sleep and stress can all cause these clocks to become out of sync. Coupled with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and AGT –a vital repair enzyme that is often lacking in our skin –this serum is an all-star anti-ager in our books.
Even more than wrinkles and lines, studies have shown that one of the most aging skin concerns is hyper-pigmentation. That is, an uneven skin tone, dark spots and splotches can add years to your face. Enter Clinique’s Even Better Makeup ($24.50). This is one of the best full-coverage foundations that goes on so light it virtually melts into skin. The oil-free formula builds on the brand’s coveted Even Better Skin Tone Corrector by breaking up pigments with a potent antioxidant cocktail of Vitamin E, mushroom yeast extract, grapefruit peel, white birch extracts and the equally brightening Vitamin C. It has an amazing range of shades, from the palest alabaster to the darkest sienna, and an SPF 15 to prevent future pigmentation from the sun. Clarins’ Super Restorative Foundation True-Lift SPF 15 ($56) similarly smoothes out skin tone but incorporates Pycogenol –a natural antioxidant- with vanuaceane plant extract to protect the skin’s barrier and keep your complexion supple. For more sheer coverage, Olay’s Definity Colour Recapture ($26.99) gives great luminosity to any lacklustre complexion. And finally, for all you gym, to work, to the bar-hopping ladies, Bobbi Brown’s Face Touch Up Stick ($22) is an essential on-the-go eraser. Spots, dark circles, breakouts and even red patches (which seem to flare up at the most inopportune moment!) simply vanish with a swish of the stick. It’s creamy –but oil-free –formula means that flakey under eye residue is nonexistent.
