When it comes to being self-conscious about your skin, two of the worst problems hands down are acne and cold sores. Both can destroy self-confidence faster than a changeroom rendez-vous with a Hervé Léger body con dress, and both are tricky to treat and potentially long-lasting (not to mention scarring!). So when medical tech company Zeno Corporation brought out their thermal zit-zapping device back in 2005, it was a glimmer of hope for acne sufferers everywhere. Now, its sister gadget, the Zeno CS ($129 at Shoppers Drug Mart) is doing the same for hopeless cold sore victims.
The palm-sized machine uses low-level heat to both prevent an outbreak (NOTE: You must use it at the hint of a tingle to evade a potential breakout) and split an ugly cold-sore’s lifespan in half, reducing it to three days or less. Simply genius.
Here’s how it works: One four-minute treatment applied on the spot every four to six hours will do the trick. But with this Zeno, no sharesies allowed since unlike acne, cold sores are contagious.
