Lions, tigers and bears oh my! Well, bears not so much but it seems these wild creatures and their habitats are the inspiration for the newest summer make-up collections. Safaris, jungles and the intense heat found in the depths of Africa will all be making their way into makeup bags in the coming months.

Not one to shy away from bold, rich colours Yves Saint Laurent’s summer look screams sun-smoldering beauty. And YSL’s artistic advisor, the renowned makeup artist, Val Garland was on hand at Jamie Kennedy’s outpost at Toronto’s Gardiner Museum to show us how vibrant blues, golds and fuschias can all work without looking like Dame Edna.

Since the season is all about bright colour, safari-inspired or not, Garland suggests adding a pop of bright to eyes using the turquoise blue shadow from the 5 Colour Harmony Eye palette ($72) wet or dry along the lashline.
