Ashley Olsen Quitting Fashion, Jean Paul Gaultier Staying

Ashley Olsen’s time as designer for the Olsen’s two very successful labels, The Row and Elizabeth & James, may be coming to an end. Hollyscoop is reporting that the twin may have had enough of the fashion industry. She says “”(In the fashion world) everyone is just really looking out for themselves. I don’t know if I’ll be designing this collection forever. A couple of years from now, I’m sure I’ll want to do something else, and I’m not going to shy away from that. What if I just want to be an artist, or if I want to go back to acting? Which is not in the cards, but what if I wanted to do that?”.
In other news (good news that is), the rumours that Jean Paul Gaultier will be leaving his post as Creative Director of Hermes have been squashed. Elle UK has learned that JP isn’t going anywhere and in fact is quite happy with his role at the luxury brand. Hermes has confirmed with Elle that “both [Hermes and JPG] intend to continue their fruitful collaboration. Any rumours to the contrary are unfounded”. We can all breathe a little easier now!
