Friday night we were treated to a runway show of Project Runway Canada alum Brandon R. Dwyer’s Fall 2009 collection here in Toronto. While we admit we’ve been less than loyal followers of this season of Project Runway, we were itching to see what Brandon would come up with for his fall collection.
Before the show began, we flipped through our lookbooks of the collection and immediately we knew what would be our favorite pieces: leather and evening wear. Our anticipation for these pieces was so high that while we enjoyed his knitwear collection that opened the show, our minds didn’t fully open up until we saw those hot, hot leather pants and leather mini dress.
It’s clear from the collection that Brandon’s heart is in evening wear as was evident in his triple tiered purple gown with the sweetheart neck and of course the black flamenco number that closed the show (you could literally see the audience’s mouths forming oohs and aahs as the model waltzed down the runway). We overheard one of Brandon’s staff recall how they created that piece just days before the show in order to come up with a show-stopping closer. Brandon, we think you succeeded and we know that had Iman seen those pieces during the PR Canada, we think you would definitely have “measured up”!
