WEEK OF MARCH 18, 2009: In the Navy It's only for those few 'sacred' red carpet events (the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Grammys and the Emmys) that are we able to identify emerging celebrity color trends. But after reviewing the celeb candids from this week, we noticed a trend of navy surfacing from wardrobe selections on the red carpet as well as on the sidewalk. At the Metropolitan Opera's 125th Anniversary Gala in New York City, Diane Kruger selected this navy beaded bustier with fluid royal blue silk skirt from Yves Saint Laurent for this red carpet occassion. Other attendees such as Claire Danes (pictured below) and Patricia Clarkson also dressed their best in navy YSL gowns at this star-studded event. This week we've selected the best dressed celebs who ditched their black duds and joined the navy!   BEST RUCHING Claire Danes looked exquisite in a silk YSL Pre-Fall 2009 navy halter gown at the Metropolitan Opera 125th Anniversary Gala in New York.   BEST CHIFFON Voluptuous Kim Kardashian wrapped her curves in navy chiffon at Russell Simmon's Arts Foundation Arts for Life in Miami.   BEST VELVET Rachel Bilson once again showed us she is on trend by stepping out in L.A. in a velvet navy blazer over a darling printed navy dress.   BEST LEATHER Penelope Cruz rushed through LAX in head to toe navy mixing different textures of knit, demin and leather to achieve this monochromatic look.
