We’ve always been told that the first step in getting over a problem is admitting you have one. Well dear readers, we have a problem. A big one. And we’re finally ready to come face to face with our demon: we’re addicted to shopping for wedding dresses. Well, not shopping per say, more like browsing. If we had a big rock on our left hand or a fiancé-in-waiting, this wouldn’t be a problem. But since we are neither engaged nor close to becoming engaged, our obsession with online wedding dress browsing is borderline maniacal.
It’s not that we so desperately want to get married. In fact, we’re quite frightened of the thought of marriage. We don’t want to wear the dress while walking down the aisle or throwing the bouquet. We just want the dress. We merely want to try one on, prance around the store and bring it home to stare at (and eat dinner in, sit at our laptops in, sleep in, etc). If Tina Fey can do it, so can we!
But it seems we’re not the only ones going gaga for wedding dresses. The media went wild over Ivanka Trump’s short-sleeved Vera Wang number last month. Heidi Klum and the Project Runway crew turned ancient wedding dresses into everyday fashion in October. And even Fashion’s Night Out played host to a custom Carolina Herrera wedding dress giveaway. So dear readers, maybe we don’t have a problem after all. Maybe our obsession with wedding dresses is merely a result of the fashion world’s recent interest in bridal gowns. That’s why we’ve decided to face our “problem” head on and just go for the dress. We’ll worry about the man and the ring another day.
