Delicate Details at Valentino, Marc Jacobs and Fendi for Less!

Marc Jacobs said it best last September when he boldly proclaimed to Style.com after his Spring 2010 show that he was sick “of seeing young girls wearing black and studs”.   Part of us wanted to yell “Amen!” as we too were over the tired black leather trend of seasons past while the other part of us panicked because that meant we’d have to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe!  But after viewing the romantic ruffles and delicate feminine details of Valentino, Fendi and Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2010 collections, we realized the death of the motorcycle jacket was upon us and it was time to lay our studded belts, beat up biker boots and oversized tanks to rest and embrace a softer side to dressing, or as our mom likes to call it, dressing like an actual female.   This spring, we’re trading in our leather and metal for silk, chiffon, ruffles and pearls.  Find out where to find our top picks for less…

1) Feminine Ruffles – $17.95 H&M
This spring we’re seeing ruffles pop up on everything including a pair of Christian Louboutin’s ($875) and a Valentino leather jacket ($4550).  We’re finding our ruffles with more affordable price tags, like this side ruffle tank from H&M for less than $20.

2) Luxe Lingerie – $44 Topshop
With underwear this lovely, we actually will start wearing it as outerwear as seen on the Spring 2010 runways of Marc Jacobs and Christian Dior.

3) Floral Details – $215 Badgley Mischka at Piperlime
These floral accent sandals from Badgley Mischka (called the Randee) are a great way to combine two of spring’s hottest trends, the ruffle and floral, in one!

4) Fringe Festival – $265 Diane Von Furstenberg at Shopbop
Visions of Swan Lake danced through our heads when we saw this silk-chiffon fringe skirt from Diane Von Furstenberg (she called it her Postage Stamp miniskirt and we have no idea why).   We are so enamored of its beauty that we truly believe we’ll look as graceful as a ballerina when wearing it!

5) Fuss & Feathers – $42.74 ASOS
First of all, any clutch with this much detail and a price tag of under $50 is a must-have in our mind.  We love the soft pink feathers so much we wish ASOS made it in dress too!

6) Pearly Whites – $6.50 Old Navy
A brilliant knockoff of Lanvin’s traditional ribbon and pearl jewelry, this pale pink bracelet from Old Navy is a steal at only $6.50.
