03/12/2010 Matte nails are a huge trend but who wants to buy five new shades of a Chanel nail color in a matte finish? Instead keep the hues you already have and top them off with a matte top coat like Essie’s Matte About You ($10).
line
03/11/2010 Can’t wait until May 27th for Sex and the City 2 to hit big screens? Sarah Jessica Parker’s newest fragrance, SJP NYC, is tiding us over until then.  The fruity floral scent (and adorable bottle) is on our must-have list for spring.
line
03/10/2010 Give your feet a break after a night of dancing with Damn Heels, fold-up ballerina-style flats that tuck into their very own expandable bag that’s small enough to pop into any clutch. For just $20 a pop, you’ll save your feet the agony of walking another minute in those death traps we call high heels.
line
03/09/2010 We have told you lately how much we love Gap’s new denim biker jacket?  It’s perfect for today’s weather and it’s a steal at only $69.50!!
line
03/08/2010 Last night’s Oscars solidified it: the hair accessory is back big time!  Whether you go floral like Monique or jeweled like Diane Kruger and Demi Moore, just make sure you’ve got something pretty pinning back your tresses this spring.
line
03/05/2010 Torontonians looking to get their hands on some hot contemporary labels like McQ, LNA, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, Hanii Y and more need look no further than the Bay on Queen Street.  The Bay’s new contemporary section, The White Space, officially launched last night and it is the spot to shop for our favorite brands!
line
03/04/2010 This spring we’re heading to the men’s department to score an extra long belt perfect for knotting around the waist as seen at Burberry and Pink Tartan’s Spring 2010 collections.  Just be sure to grab one made from super soft leather in order to allow for maximum bendability.
line
03/03/2010 We found the perfect utility skirt for spring at Banana Republic in their new chino collection.  High-waisted with a bow tie belt and front pockets, it reminds us of the ones we saw on the Spring 2010 runways at Celine and Jean Paul Gaultier!
line
03/02/2010 Keeping with our theme of buttery soft caramel leathers, we’re investing in a leather t-shirt as seen on the Spring 2010 runways of Celine.  Worn with a pair of menswear-inspired pants or rolled up shorts and we’ll be runway ready in no time.
line
03/01/2010 We’re putting a new spin on the classic bun this spring thanks to Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, Fendi and YSL.  The top knot (i.e. a bun placed directly on the crown of the head) has quickly become the hair trend of the season.  Whether loose and messy at Lavin and Fendi or slicked back and tight at Marc Jacobs, we know we’ll be alternating this style with our favorite side braid.
line
02/26/2010 Even though we’re obsessed with painting our nails in pastel shades this spring, we’re making an exception with OPI’s Alice in Wonderland range of nail polishes.  The four shade collection includes Thanks So Muchness! -a shimmery red; Off with Her Red -a sizzling hot red; Absolutely Alice - a dreamy blue glitter; and Mad as a Hatter - a multi-coloured glitter.
line
02/25/2010 Dying to get your hands on a piece of Isabel Marant but don’t live in Paris?  Net-a-Porter just started carrying Isabel Marant’s Spring 2010 collection on their site but you better hurry as some pieces are already sold out!
line
02/24/2010 Sick of your boring old ponytail? Spice it up by adding a glitzy comb as seen on the Spring 2010 runways of Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana.  Switch up the ponytail for a disheveled updo and add in a metal or jeweled comb for some added glam.
line
02/23/2010 Not feeling the military jacket for spring?  Try a modern twist on an old classic with a cropped trench as seen on the Spring 2010 runways of Dries Van Noten and Dior.
line
02/22/2010 Sheer silks and lightweight satins have quickly become our favorite fabrics of the season. Load up on these super soft and super feminine fabrics for spring.

02/18/2010 Calling all brides!  Net-a-Porter has just launched their new bridal boutique.  Show now for dresses by Lanvin, Temperley London, Vivienne Westwood and more!  Be sure to check out their great selection of bridesmaid and mother of the bride gear.
line
02/17/2010 Leather is still all the rage for spring, but it’s not the tough, rock n’ roll leather of seasons past.  It’s luxe and sophisticated, light and buttery in more subdued shades as seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim and Celine.  So this spring give your studded black leather a rest and opt for something softer in a creamy caramel.
line
02/16/2010 It’s all about floral prints this spring thanks to designers like DKNY, Dior and Etro.  Head over to H&M to check out their new Garden collection featuring a wide array of floral prints that are super easy to mix and match.
line
02/12/2010 If you’re like us, your sensitive skin is acting up thanks to the winter weather.  One way to minimize irritation: look for products that are listed as “frangrance-free”.  This usually means that no scents were added to the product, as opposed to “unscented” which means a masking agent may have been used.  Fragrance can be a major cause of skin irritation.
line
02/10/2010 This spring we’re alternating our red lipstick with a shot of peach! As seen on the Spring 2010 runways of Nanette Lepore, Venexiana and Vivienne Tam, peachy keen lips are our go-to shade this season.
line
02/09/2010 Fashionistas everywhere including teen blogging sensation Tavi and London it girl Pixie Geldof are opting to dye their hair grey (yes grey) as seen on the Spring 2010 runways of Proenza Schouler and Gareth Pugh.  For those of you looking for the latest hair color craze, this one’s for you!
line
02/08/2010 We’re loading up on thin pastel colored socks for spring to pair with our platform sandals, as seen at Burberry, Marni, Alexander Wang and more!

Click here for more info and to buy tickets.
line
02/04/2010 We’re halfway through winter and our favorite black leather boots are looking pretty sad.  Instead of doling out the dough to buy a new pair so late in the season, we’re making some minor improvements.  Take your boots to your favorite shoe cobbler and have them put on a new heel (even though our boots are flat, we still wear down the heel on one side).  While you’re there, ask them to give them a good, professional polish.  You’ll be amazed how new those boots will look!
line
02/03/2010 Express now ships to Canada!  Fellow Canadians, head over to Express.com to shop the latest spring fashions for less and never worry about falling in love with an item that you can’t find at home.  Their new Canadian shipping policy makes it easy and affordable.
line
02/02/2010 Back to basics: This spring we’re stocking up on the classic white shirt, but with a twist. Designers like Stella McCartney, Prada and Ralph Lauren all showed versions of the wardrobe staple but this spring it’s silky, it’s sheer and it’s a whole lot more billowy!
line
02/01/2010 Looking for the perfect pair of jeggings (the jeans that fit like a legging)?  Look no further than Genetic Denim.  They’ve crafted the perfect pair of jeggings that fit like a glove.  Head over to Holt Renfrew and Aritzia to find your pair now.
line
01/29/2010 Is your mascara always clumping? Follow these three steps for clump-free lashes: 1) Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of your lashes (more mascara at the roots equals longer looking lashes). 2) Pull the wand up and through the lashes while continuing to wiggle. 3) Close your eye and place the wand on top of lashes at the base and pull through to remove any clumps. This last step is critcal!
line
01/28/2010 The hair do of the season is one giant messy side braid as seen at Alexander Wang Spring 2010.  Don’t have the length or can’t braid one yourself?  Ask your hair stylist for a braid extension.
line
01/27/2010 We’re loving the floor sweeping lengths of this season’s skirts and dresses but what to wear over top? A jacket that falls at the hip looks best, whether it’s a cropped blazer or chic biker jacket. The contrast between the length of the skirt and the abrupt stop to the jacket is the best look around!
line
01/26/2010 Another favorite jacket silhouette for Spring 2010 is the trench. Shown at Burberry, Dior, Max 03/a and Chloe, the classic trench is a must-have basic for this season and every season to follow. Make sure to look for one that incorporates the proper anatomy of a trench - a storm patch, a matching belt, sleeve loops and double breasting.
line
01/25/2010 We change our mascara more frequently than we change our underwear but as of late we’ve been devoted to mascaras with spherical brushes like L’Oreal’s Telescopic Explosion and Givenchy’s Phenonmen’Eyes Effet Extension. Their spiky globe-like brushes are perfect for attacking your eyelashes from every angle.
line
01/22/2010 This spring, we’re giving our motorcycle jacket the boot and investing in the jacket of the season - the utility jacket. Part band, part military, the utility jacket is the style on everyone’s lips and in everyone’s closet for Spring 2010.
line
01/19/2010 This spring, we’re hanging up our clutch and hobo bag in favor of a darling drawstring pouch inspired by Prada, Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg. Instead of buying new, we’re raiding our mother’s closet for her originals from the 90’s.
line
01/18/2010 Psst! We’re changing over our format to a blog. Visit Stylehog the Blog for all our weekly hot picks, best dressed celebs and industry gossip.
line
01/15/2010 We’ve often referred to denim-on-denim as the Canadian Tuxedo, but this spring we’re embracing the trend seen on the runways of Chloe and D&G, so long as it’s done the right way. First make sure you mix two different shades (i.e. darker wash jeans with a light wash shirt) and always break up the look with a leather belt and/or leather handbag.
line
01/14/2010 With Valentine’s Day just a month away, retailers are flooding their floors with pretty pieces of lingerie. We say forget saving it for that special someone and take a page from the Spring 2010 runways of Marc Jacobs, Joe Fresh and Christian Dior - wear your underwear as outwear. Pick up a few pieces of lingerie that will look as good on the outside as they do underneath.
line
01/13/2010 Love Gilt Groupe and Hautelook.com but don’t have an American shipping address (i.e. you live in Canada)? Beyond The Rack is Canada’s only private shopping club in the similar vein as Gilt and Hautelook, except they ship within Canada! Sign up today and start saving on designer fashions.
line
01/12/2010 For perfectly curled eyelashes all day long, apply a little heat to your eyelash curler. Simply use your hair dryer to blow a few seconds of heat on your metal eyelasher curler before you apply and viola, instantly curled lashes that are guaranteed to stay curled longer. Word of warning: don’t blow dry for too long or you risk burning your lashes!
line
01/11/2010 This spring we’re ditching our standard grey, black and purple nail polish in exchange for some easter-egg hues inspired by the Spring 2010 runways of Zac Posen, where pastel pinks reigned supreme; Rag & Bone, where lemony yellows glistened from the models’ nails and of course the man who started the trend last season, Chanel’s jade green nails at their fall collection.
line
01/08/2010 Combat hair static with a few tricks. Grab a dryer sheet and gently run it over your hair to remove static instantaneously. Or try to prevent static before it starts by applying a deep conditioner after you shampoo (static is caused by dry hair) or weigh your hair down with an extra dollop of styling product, like mousse or gel.
line
01/06/2010 Food for thought: blueberries aren’t the only beauty-friendly food. Wild salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and cell-repairing protein which means your skin is more radiant (as well as wrinkle-free). Beans and lentils also should be on your menu because they’re low-glycemic (i.e. your blood sugar remains stable) meaning they prevent blemishes as well as dull, sagging, wrinkled skin.
line
01/05/2010 Thought bold colored lips were just a fall/winter makeup sensation? Think again. Megawatt lips were all over the Spring2010 runways so go ahead and paint on some color (we’re partial to the violet pouts seen at Bottega Veneta and the tangerine gloss at Prada).

11/06/2009 Baby, it’s cold outside! As the cold weather approaches, our lips lose moisture and end up flacky and dry. Keep the moisture in your lips with lip balm that includes ingredients like natural waxes (beeswax, cadelilla or carnauba), oils (vegetable, petroleum, olive, cocoa or lanolin) and Vitamin E. Avoid ingredients like alcohol, menthol and camphor (menthol and camphor create an addiction for your lips which will dry them out even more).

09/29/2009 This season we want you to try one new trend that you normally wouldn’t wear. Fashion is all about change and innovation so step out of your comfort zone and give a new style a whirl! You may even enjoy it!
line
09/28/2009 If you’re going out for a night of dancing but you can’t bear the thought of cutting a rug in 4 inch heels, it’s ok to tuck a pair of flats into your clutch so long as they’re still super stylish. If Alexa Chung can do it, so can you!

line
09/25/2009 We’re still trying to find the perfect pair of slouchy leather shorts. Our solution: head to your local vintage store and pick up a pair of pleated leather pants. Cut them into shorts leaving enough leather that you can roll them once, thereby creating a fake hem that won’t fray (leather doesn’t fray).
line
09/24/2009 We love all the gold metallics shown this fall at Derek Lam and Proenza Schouler but what about our eye makeup? When it comes to wearing metallics on the body, leave the metallics off the face - as in, skip the silver and gold eyeshadow and go for a smoky eye or au natural.
line
09/23/2009 Whether shopping for thigh high or knee high boots this fall, pay attention to the softness of the leather and the bulk around the ankle. If the leather is too soft, your boots will be stretched to the max come winter and will just look sloppy. To avoid the slouchy look, keep your eyes open for tougher, more structured leather that is guaranteed to hold up through the season and beyond.

02/09/2009 This year when doing your spring shopping, do your homework! Know what trends you want to wear this season and make a shopping list of what you need to make it happen.
line
02/06/2009 We know it’s early, but we can’t help but want spring to start already! That’s why we’re buying sunglasses now, just to get us in the mood.
line
02/05/2009 Love the look of a double-wrap belt but don’t want to pay double the price? Buy a belt three sizes too big and wrap it around the smallest part of your waist twice.
line
02/04/2009 Dying to wear your new platform sandals but the cold weather keeping you in boots? Use the time to break in your new sandals by walking around indoors. That way they’ll be the perfect fit by spring!
line
02/03/2009 Safari styles are back in for spring. Save some cash by sorting through last spring’s wardrobe to pull out the safari-inspired pieces that can be reworn in 2009.
line
02/02/2009 Get a jumpstart on your spring wardrobe by buying your spring coat now. Anoraks with pop up collars are everywhere!
line
01/30/2009 Sick of your go-to black or gray cardigan? Spice it up with a bright pink or orange boyfriend cardigan. The stores are full of them right now. Don’t forget to belt it.
line
01/29/2009 Stick to your budget next time you go shopping by leaving your plastic at home!
line
01/28/2009 Can’t imagine spending your hard-earned dough on a pair of pre-ripped boyfriend jeans? Head to your man’s closet and “borrow” his old Levi’s while making friends with a pair of scissors!
line

01/23/2009 Casual Friday does not mean yoga pants and snakers! Dress up Friday’s denim with a blazer or a strand of pearls.
line
01/22/2009 Your best ally when shopping for jeans is your best friend. Not only will she still like you after you drag her in and out of a dozen fitting rooms, you can bet she’ll be brutally honest.
line
01/21/2009 Remember to leave your day watch at home when heading out for a night. Nothing ruins an outfit like a Timex Ironman!
line
01/20/2009 Looking for a new alternative to the standard white tee? Try an oversized slouchy version for a less-than-preppy spin on a classic style.
line
01/19/2009 When buying a designer purse, stay away from super-trendy “it” bags. Instead invest in a classic designer purse that you can carry for years to come.
line
01/16/2009 Only wear one piece of statement jewelry at a time! Chunky earrings with an oversized necklace might look good on the models at Louis Vuitton, but it just looks overdone in real life.
line
01/15/2009 A good bra can make you look 5 lbs thinner (we swear!). Head to your fave lingerie shop and ask for a fitting pronto!
line
01/14/2009 Your handbag and shoes don’t always have to match! Wear black with brown or mix a pattern with a solid.
line
01/13/2009 Keep your everyday gold and silver jewelry 09/arate. Feel free to mix the metals only when wearing fashion or costume jewelry.
line
01/12/2009 Always, always carry a lint brush in your purse. You never know when you’re going to need it!
line
01/09/2009 Pick out your outfit the night before. Not only will you look more put-together, you can also hit the snooze button a few extra times!
line
01/08/2009 Never leave the house in the winter without first polishing your boots. Salt stains can really ruin an outfit!
line
01/07/2009 Keep warm (and stay stylish) this winter by layering: layer an oversized blazer over a fitted cardigan or use a turtleneck as a great layering base.
line
01/06/2009 When wearing open-toe heels to a formal event in the winter, don’t let your toes freeze. Be sure to wear tights!
line
01/05/2009 Look for ways to update pieces you already own: roll up your skinny jeans and wear them with flats or triple up on necklaces to create your own statement jewelry.
line
01/02/2009 Start the new year off right: head to your closet and start your spring cleaning a little early. It will feel good to re-organize and shed last year’s styles.
