Cool Jewels
A dark shadow fell upon our office this afternoon. We came to the realization that this weekend is the last official weekend of summer and we kind of feel the way we did when we learned there was no such thing as Santa Claus. The only thing that could bring us out of this funk is the knowledge that there are only 8 more days until the start of New York Fashion Week Spring 2009 and for the next week we plan to mourn the end of Summer 2008 while daydreaming about what we will wear for Spring/Summer 2009. But since we can't actually purchase any of the fashions that will be gracing the runways this September until at least February, we have a plan: we'll admit defeat and wear as much of this season's richest jewel tones in an attempt to welcome the impending cold weather in style.
Our favorite jewel tones were seen at Tommy Hilfiger and Proenza Schouler in deep shades of ruby red, burgundy, garnet and purple. And lucky for us, we can't seem to step foot into a store without seeing similar shades in silky fabrics, structured cloches and patent shoes. We can't think of a better way to mark the passing of summer than jewel tones fit for a queen.
