Wild, Wild West We never thought the day would come. In fact, we thought there was more of a chance that designers would adopt Zoolander's "Derelict" look (i.e. the homeless trend sported by one Ben Stiller) before sending cowboy hats and leather chaps down their Spring 2009 runways. Apparently, we were wrong. Designers from Hermes, Givenchy and Alessandro Dell'Acqua went wild for the west this spring as they turned the fashion world's recent fascination with all things fringe into a full-fledge rodeo show. Of course, the cowgirls of the shows were of the thorough-bred kind, leaving no room for the kitsch factor usually associated with the old west. Think an upscale spin on swinging fringe skirts, tassel-trimmed handbags, a few cleverly placed cowgirl hats and of course our favorite leather chaps at Givenchy. Giddyup ladies!
