January is the time to forget last year's fashion faux pas (did we really think we could get away with a turban?) and make a new list of fashionable resolutions that we promise to uphold for the next 365 days (or at least until the Fall collections are shown). Read on to see our Top 5 New Year's Resolutions.

We're firm believers that education is the key to success. So when 2 notorious fashionistas came out with their very own style guides in 2007, we couldn't wait to open up the crisp pages of their shiny new hardcovers and let their knowledge of all things glam leap off the pages and into our impressionable young minds. While we never thought we would be taking advice from someone named Posh Spice, we have to admit the girl knows her fashion. It just goes to show you, never judge a book by it's cover. With that sentiment in mind, don't be afraid to turn to less than obvious sources for fashion information and inspiration. Keep the scholar in you alive by continuing to educate yourselves in the ever-evolving, always-revolving world of fashion.

While it's best to keep abreast of the latest comings and goings of designers and their celebrity muses, it doesn't mean we must bow at their feet and hail them as the end all, be all in the world of style. On the contrary, the most stylish individuals are those that know their Prada from their Versace and aren't afraid to add a splash of their own personal style. They take a trend and make it their own. In 2008, ditch the head-to-toe trend dependency and be a trendsetter. Learn from the latest trend reports but mix in a few of your own. Most of us are too afraid of what the fashionistas on the street will think of our attire to actually try something new. But once you realize your biggest critic is yourself, your fear of fashion failure will dissipate and soon the trendsetter in you will emerge. Instead of turning to Elle's latest editorial, your friends will be asking you for trend advice but you'll be too busy posing for The Satorialist to give them the time of day.

We're constantly trying to find ways to minimize our carbon footprint. We rely solely on public transit as a mode of transportation. We compost everything that will biodegrade. We even wash our clothes in cold water. So we are always excited to hear of new products that will further our mission to save the planet. What makes them even more exciting is when a celebrity puts their weight behind the product. While normally we aren't thrilled at the thought of another celebrity endorsement, when it comes to the environment we think it needs all the publicity it can get. While Stella McCartney has been designing animal-friendly fashion and beauty products for years, it's nice to find a few new celebs jumping on the bandwagon. Arriving February to shoe boutique Te Casan, a vegan shoe line designed by Miss Natalie Portman is just one of many environmentally friendly fashions to enter the market in 2008. Actress Ashley Judd partenered with US retailer Goody to design a a line of eco-friendly fashions. In addition to helping the environment, Miss Judd's line will also donate half a million dollars to charity in it's first year. Now that's saving the planet at it's best.

It arrives every January without a doubt. It smirks at us from the mailbox as we go to collect our latest Vogue. It taunts us as we regretfully open it's blank white envelope and gingerly unfold it's countless pages to reveal the horror of all horrors: our December credit card statment. For many, December is the month when our shopping habits go a little out of control as we labor away at finding the perfect gift for everyone on our list and a few for ourselves. While we are never lucky enough to "Win What You Buy" (who are those lucky bastards?), we usually take the thickness of the envelope as a good indication it's time to cut down on our spending. For those shopaholics who are in utter disgust at the mention of "cutting down", read on to our last resolution.

Note that we didn't say "cut down on our shopping". If Stylehog.com knows one thing for certain, it's how to shop without spending a fortune. Therefore, even when you are forced to make drastic changes to your spending habits, you can still turn to Stylehog.com for all the latest trends and shopping tips that are sure to keep you out of the red. Stay in touch with Stylehog.com all year round with our Weekly Hot List. Join today and by next January, we promise your closet will be full of the latest trends but you won't quiver in fear at the sight of a mailman.
