Pretty in Pink
John Hughes was so ahead of his time
There's nothing we love more than an 80's teen movie, especially a teen movie featuring none other than 80's screen queen Molly Ringwald. Our devotion to Molly's quirky, misunderstood and internally tormented characters began when we watched Sixteen Candles for the first time. We longed for our 16th birthday to arrive so that Michael Schoeffling (aka Jake Ryan) would pull up to our driveway in his Porsche with offers of a private birthday party for 2. While sadly Michael failed to appear on our special day, we found solace in Molly's next film, Pretty in Pink. What young fashionista didn't see a part of herself in Molly's portrayal of wannabe seamstress Andie Walsh?

When designers brought pink back to the runways of spring 2008, we were overjoyed at the thought of playing our own version of Andie Walsh, all grown up but still devoted to pink. While we realized we'd have to leave the pink satin prom dress in the back of our closet, we couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of adding pink back into our rotation. Now if only we could find a Duckie to match, our lives truly would be pretty in pink.
