Trendaholic (New Year's Resolution #3)
When it comes to fashion, we sometimes wonder if fear is what drives us to continuously shop, style and accessorize our wardrobes. It's not the fear of looking bad that drives us, but the fear of not looking good enough when we know if we tried that much harder we could have perfected our outift. While some people are afraid of spiders or heights, we dear readers are afraid of under styling.

In the last few weeks, in true "new year, new you" fashion, we started to examine our fear and realized maybe we do spend too much time in front of our closets. Maybe (gasp!) we need a style "makeunder". Instead of worrying so much about which trends go with which, what if we focused on one trend at a time to anchor our outfit? That means fewer pieces per outfit, but also that means more outfit opportunities if we only accessorize sparingly. However with so many super-styled looks on the runways of Spring 2009 (Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Charles Anastese and Luella as above), we didn't think it would be possible. How can we not pair our statement earrings with our statement necklaces a la Louis Vuitton? How can we not wear stacks of bangles, a super thick waist belt, a quilted clutch and a straw hat all in the same outfit as seen at Marc Jacobs? And then we realized, we don't live our lifes on the runways of Paris or in the pages of Vogue; we do need a style makeunder pronto!

While we're not exactly attempting to replicate the minimalist movement of the 1990's, we are trying to master the art of less is more. In the midst of our soul search, we came across 16 fabulous (and trendy) spring fashions and accessorizes that are statements all on their own, perfect for anchoring our outfits and decluttering our style. After all, with less pieces to put on the morning, the more time we have to sleep in.
