In The Flesh...
In fashion, we always talk about an anchor color or a neutral color that serves as a base to build a wardrobe. In the past, whenever we've referred to this base color, it's usually been black; hence the most overused saying in fashion " _____ is the new black". This is also the reason so many fashion editors (including us) have a reputation for wearing black ensembles. Not only does black mean fashion editors notoriously remain en vogue (black is always in style) but it also means they recycle their basics year after year (who knew editors actually saved money on clothes?).
This spring, we're changing up our basic black for a new anchor color: nude. Nude is the freshest neutral for fashion editors and designers alike as everyone from Stella McCartney, Lanvin and Oscar de la Renta showed flesh tones and shades of nude in their Spring 2009 collections. So give your black a rest this spring (if we can do it, so can you!) and embrace a new basic. Is there anything more natural than nude? We think not!
