In the world of fashion, too much popularity can sometimes be a bad thing. Just ask Balmain's head designer Christophe Decarnin. After creating one of Spring 2009's most talked about, most copied and most photographed collections, certain fashion talking heads are stating that Decarnin's latest collection for Balmain has elevated to such a fever pitch, aka "Balmania", it's suddenly gone cold, as in so cold the ultra-hip have moved past it.

We on the other hand disagree and it seems so does Beyonce (see above), Victoria Beckham and the hundreds of other trendsetters who snapped up Balmain's Studded Crystal Sandals (sold out almost everywhere), Balmain's Crystal Embellished Canvas Jacket (pictured on the runway above, retail price: $11,410) and Balmain's Acid Washed Ripped jeans (at $2,165 a pop, they're already sold out). We're loving the acid washed denim and strong shoulder military style blazers (Michael Jackson all the way!), plus we're kicking ourselves for not picking up the Balmain-esque studded crystal sandals we saw weeks ago at Zara. And for those lucky US readers who caught our "Vested Interest" piece in April, you may have snapped up the Target Band Leader vest that reeked (in a good way) of Balmain.

But thanks to a few clicks of the mouse, we were able to re-create our very own "Balmania" including a bandleader jacket (under $200), bleach washed jeans (under $50) and strappy studded sandals (under $130). We say too much popularity can never be a bad thing! Just ask Obama.
