WHAT: With all the different textures making an appearance on the Fall 2009 runways, it's hard to pick just one as the top contender for the season. But after determining that Ralph Lauren, Bottega Veneta, Sonia Rykiel, Moschino, Fendi, Prada, Balenciaga, Chloe, Just Cavalli and Nanette Lepore all featured velvet in some form on their Fall 2009 runways, it was pretty clear who was the winner. Whether it was velvet pants at Chloe, velvet suits at Sonia Rykiel or velvet dresses at Ralph Lauren and Bottega Veneta, we knew we just had to get our hands on this ultra-smooth material come fall.

WHO: Diane Kruger showed her love for the super smooth fabric at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event in an asymmetrical black velvet jumpsuit while Jessica Alba wore Prada's red floral velvet dress during New York Fashion Week in September.

BEST BUY: Wore velvet the first time around and can't bear the thought of wearing it for a second time? Look to your accessories as a way to wear velvet, like these rhinestone and velvet drop earrings from Charlotte Russe. For only $7.50 you can add a dash of velvet without going overboard.

TIP: A velvet blazer is a perfect topper for your holiday parties. Look for one in black like this one from Forever 21 for less than $30!
