Totally Faux!
We knew at a ripe young age that we were born to work in fashion. It wasn't our obsession with Seventeen magazine or our need to always match our shoes with our belt that tipped us off. Instead it was our grandmother's Russian sable fur coat that had us playing dress up for hours, prancing around the house with an empy champagne glass in hand, pretending to be guests at some swanky cocktail party (what can we say, we watched too many episodes of Dynasty as kids) that really solidified our passion for fashion.
Decades later, our love for animals has trumped our love for fashion and instead of parading down the streets in our inherited fur, we're saying no to real fur and embracing a more ethical, yet equally fashionable type of fur: faux fur. We admit that faux fur has gotten a bad rap, but if Stella McCartney can do it, we figure we can give it a try!
Seen at Louis Vuitton, Blumarine, Chado Ralph Rucci and Hermes it's clear that real fur was a huge trend on the runways of Fall/Winter 2008, however we've found some amazing faux fur pieces that can rival an animal pelt any day! From a faux fur trapper hat to a faux fur vest quite reminscent of the fur vests shown at Louis Vuitton, we have a feeling our grandmother's sable coat will remain hanging in the back of our closet for a few more decades.
