Funky, Chunky Knits
A few seasons ago, we made the mistake of buying a sweater for comfort instead of for style (we know, what were we thinking?) and our boyfriend never let us live it down. While the sweater was both warm and comfortable, thereby serving its purpose, it was the opposite of sexy. How,we wondered, do we find a sweater that is warm enough to brave below zero temperatures but stylish enough to keep the men in our life from running in the other direction? This season, our question was answered. Designers such as Fendi, Nicole Miller, Ralph Lauren and Malo showed us chunky knits for Fall/Winter 2008 that were not only sensible and weather-appropriate, but stylish as well.

When hitting the shops, look for knit toppers with funky patterns or prints that add some versatility to your winter wardrobe and look for cardigans with a built-in tie to wrap around the body. Or add a belt of your own to cinch in the waist to eliminate any added bulk. While the fashion glitterati rarely associate the word "chunky" with "fashion", this season it seems the chunkier, the better!
