Interesting Characters at LG Fashion Week Spring 2010

It’s not unusual to spot some wild get-ups in the tents of LG Fashion Week and we’re not talking about what walks down the runway. From see-through dresses to Lady Gaga wannabes, over the years we’ve seen quite a few “fashionable” characters in the audience of fashion week. But at last night’s opening night gala, Wear Love Alive, two very interesting characters not regularly associated with fashion week were spotted. As we stepped out of the cab we couldn’t help but notice the adorable seal parked directly outside the first entryway. We got his message loud and clear (”Stop the Seal Slaughter”) and we were slightly relieved we left our vintage fur stole at home! However since this isn’t New York, we’re pretty sure the friendly seal left his buckets of red paint at home. Once inside we did a double take when we saw Santa Claus wandering through the tents. Dressed in a spiffy red leather jacket, red shoes, obligatory white beard and spectacles (not to mention a L’Oreal gift bag) we wondered if Santa had come early to deliver presents to all the good girls and good boys of the FDCC? We were quickly informed that this Santa was a regular on the Queen Street circuit and we have to admit he seemed right at home amongst Toronto’s fashion glitterati! We can’t help but wonder what awaits us at the tents this evening as we embark on Day 2 of LG Fashion Week. We’ll keep you posted!
