Spotted: Bright Boho Bags As Seen On Sienna & Rachel

Several years ago we spent Christmas vacation in Bali.  In between attempting to bodyboard, hitting up the local spas and stuffing our face with Indonesian delicacies, we managed to snag a vibrantly printed slouchy bucket bag that we wore every day on that vacation.  Whether at the beach or on a scooter, we found that every occasion in Bali suited our new colourful carry-all.  Unfortunately in an anti-hoarder moment a few years ago we disposed of that amazing Indonesian treasure and after spotting Sienna Miller, Rachel Bilson and Nicole Richie toting around their very own bright boho bag this summer, we’d do anything to get it back!   Since we can’t very well turn back time (or head back to Bali anytime soon), we’re shopping for a new colourful fabric back to get us through the rest of the summer.

Beauty Buzz: Celeb Fave Coral Lipstick

As much as we’re dying to try out fall’s freshest fashion and beauty trends (houndstooth, mod graphic eyeliner, utilitarian parkas, the quiff, flashy furs, etc), we’re not about to waste the last few weeks of the summer in our eagerness to dive into a new season.  Instead we’re thinking of ways to stretch the dog days of summer and show off the tan we’ve worked so hard to develop (with the help of self-tanners of course!).   Our favorite beauty trend of the season that is sure to compliment any tan is super bright, comes in the form of a tube and has been spotted on the lips of everyone from January Jones and Emma Stone to Whitney Port and Doutzen Kroes.   Coral lips are to summer what magenta lips were to spring – the shade you’ve got to try at least once and if the reaction of your friends, family and strangers is a positive one, then keep rocking those orangey lips all season long! First seen at Marc by Marc Jacobs, where makeup artist Dick Page layered on Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Day Lily, blotted, then topped with Orange Pigment Powder, coral lipstick is getting top billing in our makeup case and for good reason –  with only a few more weeks of August we’re not about to waste one single minute!

We’re officially entering into our second last long weekend of summer and our mind has been occupied by two thoughts: cottaging all long weekend and back to school shopping.  We admit it may sound strange that a 30-year old is daydreaming about back to school shopping considering the fact that she hasn’t entered an educational facility since graduating from university over seven years ago, but old habits die hard – even though we may not be attending school come September, we still like to get a jump on our fall wardrobe.  And since the collegiate look was all the rage on both the spring and fall runways (spring: Tommy Hilfiger, Marc by Marc Jacobs; fall: Tory Burch, J.Crew), we thought it would be sweet to look the part of the preppy young schoolgirl even though we realize no one would ever mistake us for a student (we blame our premature aging on martinis and UV rays).  So with our high heel loafers securely fastened to our feet (a must for the season), a shiny new structured satchel in our hand and something bright & striped on our back, we’re heading into fall wishing we were actually heading back into the classroom.
