Envelope Clutches & Petite Pouches for Under $100

We’re not the most techie gals around (we have the urge to throw our BlackBerry out the window on a daily basis) so we don’t usually pay too much attention to the latest gadgets.  But what we have noticed  as of late in the world of high-tech machinery are the super cool iPad cases that have been making the rounds on some of our favorite fashionistas.  These super sleek and super minimal leather cases look good enough to carry on their own as a clutch, minus the iPad. Fortunately designers and high street stores have taken a page from the tech world and created pared down flat front petite pouches and envelope clutches.  As seen on the Celine Spring/Summer 2011 runway and outside many of the runway shows this spring (our favorites include the red mini Celine pouch, top; the bright yellow American Apparel leather pouch, second from top; the sky blue Hermes envelope clutch, bottom), these minimized clutches are big enough to carry the necessities (phone, gloss, keys and wallet) but still small enough to slip inside a larger bag if needed.

Beauty Buzz: Demi-Turbans

We have a dirty little secret to share: we hate washing our hair!  We are part of that growing pack of ladies who only wash their hair every few days (or sometimes once a week) which, thanks to the miracle of dry shampoo, is totally possible.   If some of you are reading this and thinking we’re disgusting (our boyfriend already does) check out this article in The New York Times – it seems we’re not alone.  In addition to our unhealthy addiction to dry shampoo, we combat the oily appearance of our mane with a few well-placed hair accessories like the demi-turban.  The full turban rocked Jason Wu’s Spring 2011 runway and caused quite a stir when Salma Hayek wore it to Stella McCartney’s Paris show but most pretty young things like stylist Marina Munoz and the models on Vena Cava and Milly’s Spring 2011 runways are embracing the demi-turban as their headgear of choice.  Part scarf, part turban, this accessory wraps nicely around the crown and for those of you who have also chosen to abandon the shampoo, works like a temporary shield for your unwashed mop top.   We found a few demi-turban options that are a great way to get into the trend OR you can watch this video from Because I’m Addicted and learn three ways to make your very own demi-turban look with one simple silk scarf.

Do You Know the Way to Santa Fe? Navajo Styles for Summer

Do you know the way to Santa Fe? Neither do we! But we do know the best way to mimic Summer 2011′s take on southwestern style. Take a dash of Navajo knits, mix with a pair of huaraches, throw in some turquoise jewellery and you’re on your way to rocking the Santa Fe look as seen on Just Cavalli’s Spring/Summer 2011 runway and on the backs of a few key celebs like Rachel Bilson and Miss Diane Kruger.  Dude ranch not included.

Scrimp, Spend, Splurge: Round Sunglasses for Summer 2011

When Prada sent their super round Baroque sunglasses down their Spring 2011 runway, we knew we’d be seeing a plethora of celebs in the shades come summer.  And of course everyone from Ashley Olsen and Zoe Saldana to Gwen Stefani and Eva Mendes have already been spotted in a pair.  But Prada wasn’t the only designer to do round sunglasses this season nor were Ashley, Zoe, Gwen and Eva the only celebs to sport circular shades.  Diane von Furstenberg’s round retro metal frames caught our eye on the runway this summer (as did Proenza Schouler and Peter Som’s versions) and fashionable ‘it’ girls like Zoe Kravitz and Agyness Deyn have both ditched their wayfarers and cat eyes in exchange for tiny round plastic frames.   We can’t decide if we like metal or plastic best but what we do know is that this is one shape we’ll definitely be trying this summer.
