Spotted: Pretty in HOT Pink!

hot pink, emma stone, lanvin, christopher kane spring summer 2011, rosie huntington-whitely, michael kors, moscow, kate bosworth, richard nicoll, latest fashion trends

We’re tickled pink that celebs and designers alike are embracing hot pink as a red carpet and runway trend.  We first noticed the day glo shade on Miss Emma Stone in May when she opted for a satiny Lanvin Fall 2011 number at a Met Gala after party.  Next Kate Bosworth took hot pink for a spin in a neon pink ruffled drop-waist dress from Richard Nicoll’s Resort 2011 collection when she attended the “Life Happens” premiere during the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival in June.  Fast forward a week and It girl of the moment, model and “Transformer: Dark of the Moon” star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, stepped out in Moscow in a jaw-droppingly gorgeous Michael Kors Spring 2011 asymmetrical draped silk jersey dress with a slit up to here.  The ladies’ accessory of choice: hot pink matte lips of course!

Beauty Buzz: How To Do Milkmaid Braids

milkmaid braids, hair trends 2011, rachel roy spring summer 2011, erin fetherston fall winter 2011, anna della russo, emma stone, beauty trends

We are notoriously lazy when it comes to our hair.  Our two go-to looks are down and straggly or up and super disheveled (but not disheveled in the good way – disheveled in the “we don’t know how to use a brush” sort of way).  So normally when we see new hair trends on the runway we’re immediately smitten with them but then we come back to reality and realize we’ll never be able to execute them in real life.  Or so we thought until we met the milkmaid braid.  By far one of the easiest trends to pull off, milkmaid braids as seen on the S/S 2011 runways at Rachel Roy and carried through for A/W 2011 at Erin Fetherston literally only require two things from you: the ability to braid your own hair and a few bobby pins.

NEWS: Galliano on trial, Kate Moss covers September Vogue…

Galliano’s Trial Commences in Paris, LVMH Finds Replacement: John Galliano’s trial got started in Paris last week.  The highlights:  he had a triple addiction to sleeping pills, alcohol and Valium, he has no recollection of his tirade of anti -Semitic remarks and we have to wait until September 8th to hear a final verdict on the matter.  Since he was already fired from Dior back in March and also from his eponymous label in April, the fashion world waits to see who LVMH will hire to replace him.  Despite rumours that Galliano may be rehired, LVMH announced on Monday that they had chosen Bill Gaytten (who worked alongside Galliano for 23 years) as the new creative director of the John Galliano label.  {Telegraph UK}

Kate Moss Covers September Vogue: Just in time for Kate Moss’ over the top nuptials this weekend (the three day event has already been dubbed “Mossstock”), the bride landed the cover of the September issue of Vogue.  The cover goes hand-in-hand with a Mario Testino-shot story that focuses on her July nuptials (Testino is the official wedding photographer).  Any guesses on what her dress will look like?  {Fashionista}

Crochet Knits for Summer 2011 All Under $200

crochet, macrame, emilio pucci, spring summer 2011, latest fashion trends

Learning to knit and crochet are two activities that we’d love to check off our bucket list.  We’ve heard crocheting  is super relaxing and we figure we can save a few bucks by knitting our own scarves and mittens come winte.  However since we’ve been known to procrastinate when it comes to hobbies (we still have that bag of beads sitting untouched in our sock drawer from when we tried to take up jewelry making), we’re turning to designers like Emilio Pucci, Anna Sui, Canada’s own LINE Knitwear and Marthe Aime for inspiration on how to wear crochet knits properly.  These crafty designers broke out their knitting needles for Spring/Summer 2011 and did the manual labour on our behalf.

Check out our picks for affordable and adorable crochet pieces…
