While decidedly cute, the term "boho luxury" is an oxymoron if we ever heard one. If designers and magazine editors took the time to consult a dictionary, they would learn that "bohemian" actually refers to a non-traditional way of that life that many times includes voluntary poverty. Luxury in fact was the last thing on the minds of the starving artists that comprised the French bohemians of the 1800s, but alas, no one ever said fashion had to be accurate to be cute!
The now famous bohemian look of slouchy shapes, loud patterns and deconstructed textures were sent down the runways of Gucci, Dries Van Noten, Etro and Nina Ricci this fall with the added touch of luxurious furs, fringe, sequins and gorgeous gems in order to create the utlimate "bohemian luxury". Even though we love the look, we're pretty sure the original bohemians would be rolling in their graves at the thought of a pair of $1995 Gucci Devendra tassel boots infiltrating la vie boheme they coveted so dearly.
