AMC's hit TV show Mad Men not only swept the Emmy nominations this year (16 Emmy nods, including Outstanding Costumes for a Series), it also swept across the runways of Fall 2008. Designers from Michael Kors to Peter Som all credited the wardrobe department of Mad Men for their return to the conservative dressing of the early 1960's.

From sheath dresses and cashmere twinsets to double stranded pearls, the women of Mad Man are sparking a new wave of put-together preppy and we couldn't be happier. After years of seeing grown-up women sporting candy-apple pink trackpants with the words "Cutie" inscribed on their rears, we're loving the return to a more formal and sophisicated way of dressing.
