56 outfits is a lot to include in one runway show but for Joe Mimran, designer behind Joe Fresh, it’s just another day at the office – just another day that includes hiring Rolling Stone Keith Richard’s daughter Theodora to walk your runway show!  After all, it wouldn’t be a Joe Fresh show if it didn’t include a high-profile model to open and close the show.  Theodora Richards quite literally kicked off the show when she strutted onto the runway in a white sweater body suit with matching white knee highs and quite graciously tripped out of her white leather clogs.  Seeing an opporunity to turn a slightly embarassing situation into a quite humorous one, she kicked the other clog into the audience and continued down the runway sans shoes. That girl’s got spunk!  Luckily this incident didn’t overshadow the adorable clothes. 

Leave it to Joe Mimram to take the pulse that’s happening on the international runways and bring it to Canada.  From hot pants à la Stella McCartney Spring 2009 and Lady Gaga to leather clogs à la Chanel Spring 2010 and Katie Grand, Joe Fresh’s Spring 2010 collection was perfectly styled to reflect both what’s happening abroad and in our own backyard.  The underwear as outerwear bit was adorable as were the fishnet knee highs and elongated straw hats.  We couldn’t get over the sweet blue and white picnic-like checkered tops or the pastel organza skirts. On our grocery shopping list for spring you’ll be sure to find: gingham and check everything, extra short short shorts, anything in bright white, lemon yellow or neutral khaki, a taffeta blazer and a rosette overcoat. Oh and we’ll be sure to follow in the footsteps of Theodora next time our ankles give out in our heels.  Watch out for flying heels!
