2008 for 2009
1. THE PLATFORM
Despite the many highs and lows of 2008 ( (Barak Obama's rise to power = high; the global economic crisis = low), the fashion world was optimistic in both 2008 and 2009 by enabling women to reach new heights...with their shoes!

Platform Shoes 2008 to 2009

So high were the heels that even a seasoned model took a tumble on the Prada Spring 2009 runway. Many designers featured sky-high platforms in the fall and carried them through to their spring collections, like the wooden platform peep-toe seen at Marni’s Fall 2008 collection which were updated into sandals as seen at Gucci’s Spring 2009 collection. Unlike the financial sector, everything from gladiators to t-straps got a raise and we found some super high (yet super affordable) platforms to keep us lifted all spring long!
jessica simpson platform sandal pour la victoire platform sandal
These Jessica Simpson ($89) wood grain platforms will give your outfit some texture plus add a little "au natural" vibe for spring.
These Pour La Victoire ($235) colorblock mod-inspired patent leather platforms will keep you dancing all night long!
steve madden platform urban outfitters platform sandal
This Steve Madden ($139) peeptoe platform with snake print accents will keep your feet a little dryer (and a lot more stylish) until spring officially begins.   Available at Urban Outfitters for only $98, these Seychelles earthy brown leather sandals have a retro-inspired feel but with a platform your granny wouldn’t dare try!
