We only have one fear when it comes to shopping – buying a new pair of sunglasses. We can handle shopping for a new bikini or a pair of jeans, but when it comes to shopping for a new pair of sunglasses, we instantly freeze. Something about coming face to face with a wall full of hundreds of shades strikes fear in our heart. We can’t handle all those options! This year we decided to keep it nice and easy by breaking them down into the four biggest trends in sunglasses for Spring/Summer 2010.
The cat eye, as seen at Alexander Wang, Prada and Giles, has quickly become the frame of 2010 (Pink Ladies rejoice!) while 2009′s round shape still reigns supreme amongst celebrities and retailers alike. Our new favorite is the super square that Cynthia Rowley mastered on her Spring 2010 runway and we can’t help but love all the wild ‘n wacky sunglasses created by Alexander Wang for Linda Farrow and Marni.
1) White perfect square sunglasses – $10 at Urban Outfitters
We’ve all had a pair of square sunglasses in our shade rotation at some point or another but for Spring/Summer 2010 the square sunglass is as symmetrical as it can be. Urban Outfitters’ perfect square sunglasses are a way to sport the trend at an attainable price point.

2) Oversized square sunglasses – $50 by Kensie at Nordstrom
Kensie’s oversized square Daria shades are anything but square (we just had to use that pun at least once). Their gradient lens give them a slight retro feel while their perfectly square frame give them an update for 2010.

3) Fluorescent orange round sunglasses – $170 by Karen Walker at Gargyle
Karen Walker’s ROVER sunglasses are not for the faint of heart. Their perfectly round rims and bright orange color mean you’ll be turning more than a few heads in these.

4) Inés round sunglasses – $11 at Fred Flare
We have the Olsen twins and Nicole Richie to thank for ushering in the circular sunglass frame in 2007 with their devotion to Chanel’s round 5120 shades. Fred Flare’s Inés frames are slightly smaller but just as cute at only $11 a pop.

5) Oversized cat eye sunglasses – $37.20 by Jeepers Peepers at ASOS
Whitney Port, Diane Kruger, Mary-Kate Olsen and of course fashion designer Alexander Wang can all be credited with bringing back the cat eye sunglass for Spring/Summer 2010. Jeepers Peepers’ oversized cat eye sunglasses are one of our favorites this season because of their embossed high shine detailing on the sides plus they are under $40.

6) Tilia acetate cat eye sunglasses – $295 by Chloé at Net-a-Porter
If we were going to spend upwards of $200 on a sunglass trend that we may hate next spring, Chloé’s Tilia acetate cat eye shades would be it. Their cool cream frame and retro vibe have us thinking we’ll be hanging on to these until the trend returns for the third time around.

7) Faux animal print cat eye sunglasses – $5.80 at Forever 21
Forever 21′s cat eye sunglasses are the ultimate in disposable sunglasses. At only $5.80 a pair, we won’t feel bad about abandoning them after our best friend admits we do not look as cool as Whitney Port does in them.

8) Zipper frame sunglasses – $365 by Alexander Wang X Linda Farrow at La Garconne
Even though we think Alexander Wang’s zipper sunglasses for Linda Farrow would look great on Kanye West, we can’t help but want them too!

9) Plastic angled sunglasses – $16 at Urban Outfitters
Yes, we know these super angled frames look more like a Halloween accessory than an everyday pair of sunglasses, but something about their Back to The Future style makes us want to grab them and pretend it’s 2015.

10) Round ombre acetate sunglasses – $455 by Marni at Net-a-Porter
We can definitely see an Olsen twin wandering around NYC in a pair of Marni’s ultra round oversized sunglasses and we would too if we could afford their $455 price tag.
