Weekly Hot Pick October 13, 2010 @ 8:14 am
We’ve spent many an evening pondering the seasonal color choices of designers: Why do they all choose the same color? How do they know what color to choose? Is there some secret memo that gets passed around to designers? Does Pantone rule the world??? We have yet to determine exactly how designers know what is going to be the “it” color of the season (we still think they all meet at some secret evil fashion lair two times a year to discuss and choose what color we’ll all be coveting six months down the road), however for Fall/Winter 2010 that “it” color is red. Call it tomato, call it scarlet, call it merlot or ruby. Red graced the runways of everyone from Givenchy, Zac Posen, Yigal Azrouel, Carolina Herrera, Marc by Marc Jacobs, DSquared2 and Tommy Hilfiger. You name them and they saw red, from the head (cherry red chapeaus at Jean Paul Gaultier) right down to the toe (deep red floral embellished heels at Carolina Herrera). We’re also seing red this season but our red fashions won’t put us in the red, meaning they all come with a price tag of less than $200 a pop.
